Our Team
Derwin and Leah Smiley co-founded The Human-Centered Leadership Company (HCLco)™ and serve as CEO and President, respectively.
Derwin has a Master's Degree in Education from Oakland City University and spent almost a decade as a public school teacher. He also ran a local TV program for 10 years, The Derwin Smiley Show, that focused on youth issues. The show highlighted the NFL's Indianapolis Superbowl legacy in 2012.
Leah's career began at CIGNA Property and Casualty in 1999 working in Instructional Design for the IT Department on the Desktop 2K project, or the company's initiative to transform and align the operating systems of 69 offices before year 2000.
In 2009, Leah launched IDC, a global education technology company specializing in culture and inclusion. Derwin joined as CEO shortly thereafter. Together, they built a multi-million dollar firm that served thousands of customers in 50 U.S. states and 30+ nations.
